Margaret N. Dice

On May 10, 2023, Margaret “Peggy” Dice, age 97, died quietly at Friendship Village of South Hills.

Beloved wife of 56 years to William McAchren Dice; the world’s most wonderful mother to Roger (Frances) Dice, Margaret (Paul) Kniseley, and Robert (Diane) Dice. Peggy was a devoted grandmother to Elizabeth (Brad) Fetchin, Ryan Dice, and Michael (Lucy) Tcherniak Dice and loving great grandmother to Simon Fetchin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, parents William LaVerne and Mollie Andrew Northup and her six siblings: Roger (Florence) Northup, William (Marge) Northup, Roberta (Charlie) Douglas, Mildred Northup, Donald (Carol) Northup, and Peter Northup all of Newport, R.I.

Peggy loved her family, art, and music as well as her many friends.  She was a dedicated Office Manager for Grafner Brothers Jewelers for 43 years.

Peggy met her husband in Rhode Island in 1945 while he was in the Navy. They married in 1946, made their home and raised their family in Western Pennsylvania. She and Bill became life-long members of the United Methodist Church of Castle Shannon. She taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, played in the bell choir and served as a representative to the Methodist Conference. She had many interests including swimming, playing the flute, and listening to books on tape. She enjoyed drawing, painting and was an accomplished pen and ink artist. She participated in the rhythm section of the Baptist Homes bell choir and encouraged all to find beauty in every day.

Visitation for close family and friends will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Laughlin Cremation and Funeral Tributes, 222 Washington Rd. Mt. Lebanon, PA 15216, from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 11am. A private burial will follow at Ligonier Valley Cemetery, 105 Nicely Rd. Ligonier, PA 15658.
