Margot Strong Obituary

Margot Headley Strong, aged 83, died peacefully, surrounded by family and close friends on October 7, 2024, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It was in the same city, on October, 31st, 1940 that Margot was born to Rudolph and Ada Headley.

While growing up in East Liberty, Margot spent her summers at Sheldon Calvary Camp, in Conneaut, Ohio, where she fostered her lifelong talent of making friends. Margot graduated from Peabody High School in 1958 and continued her education at West Virginia University where she met her late husband John Howard Strong. They graduated in 1963 and their love for the West Virginia Mountaineers continued for their lifetimes.

John and Margot were married in Calvary Episcopal Church in 1965 and shared 53 years together until his death in 2018. In 1967 they moved to Mt. Lebanon where they lived happily until their last days.

Margot taught in the Mount Lebanon School District for over 30 years. She cared deeply for her students and kept in touch with many of them over the years. She was a devoted member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.

She is survived by her sons, John Headley Strong (Dana Schmidt) and James McCorkle Strong (Tammy), her brother James Headley and sister-in law Lynn Headley. She is also survived by her granddaughters, Emma and Cate Strong. Margot’s outgoing personality and exceptional style will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on October 26th at 10AM at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1066 Washington Road, Mount Lebanon, Pennsylvania. In place of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul’s or Sheldon Calvary Camp, 4411 Lake Road, Conneaut OH, 44030.

May her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
