Age 75, at home in Mt. Lebanon with her husband and son by her side; passed on Tuesday afternoon, September 26, 2023 after a valiant 21 year battle with chronic lymphocytic leukemia, CLL. Mary Beth was the eldest child of the late Anthony and Wilma (Watral) Christobek; beloved wife for 43 years of The Rev. Dr. John D. Crist; devoted mother of Brian (Natalie) Crist; loving grandmother of Isabelle; stepmother of Jeffrey (Cheryl) Crist; step-grandmother of Dylan, Paige, Derek and Phoebe; sister of Julie (John) Blystone and Mark (Carol) Christobek; also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary Beth was a teacher with the Allegheny Intermediate Unit, first as a classroom teacher for the hearing- impaired children in Edgewood, then transferring to become an Itinerant teacher working in various school districts throughout Western Pennsylvania. She aided children with hearing difficulties filter into the mainstream public classroom. Mary will always be remembered for her joyful response to beauty, particularly that of a newborn or infant. She loved doing needlepoint and created many intricate wall hangings. While Mary Beth was a very private person, she readily engaged people with a warm and caring smile. Friends will be welcomed at Laughlin Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 222 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon on Saturday afternoon, October 7th from 2:00 until the Memorial Service @ 4:00 o’clock. Interment will be private. If desired, memorials may be made to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or Mount Lebanon Public Library.
