Age 94, of Presto, formerly of Mt. Lebanon, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025. Mary was born on Pittsburgh’s North Side on July 16, 1931, the daughter of James and Delia (Vahey) McGill. She attended St. Benedict’s Academy where she enjoyed participating in the theater and music departments. Her Catholic faith was very important to her. Mary was an active member of St. Bernard Parish where she sang in the choir and volunteered for various committees. She was also a dedicated counselor and hospice caregiver. Through her volunteer work Mary touched many lives and will be dearly missed.
Mary will be best remembered as the devoted wife of the late J. Joseph Lackner and loving mother of Mary Pat Bielich (John), Ann O’Leary (Daniel), Joseph (Carol Ritchey), James, Julia Ryan (Paul), Thomas (Bonnie), and guardian of Joe’s beloved cousin Edmund; awesome Baga of Megan Bielich, Steven Bielich (Jackie), Bridget Bielich, Katie O’Leary (Matt Bemer), Maureen O’Leary (Nate Fister), Rebecca Boss (Zachary), Rapher Ryan (Elizabeth), Claire Ryan, Kevin Ryan, Jack Ryan, Ben Lackner, Emily Lackner, Drew Lackner (Catalina), Kelly Lackner, and Andrea Mekulik (Edward); and delighted great grandmother of Isabella, Katelyn, Illiana, Madison, Jack, Juliana, Vivien, Harrison, Quentin, Coleman, and Annabelle.
Friends will be welcomed at Laughlin Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 222 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon on Friday, September 19, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bernard’s Church (St. Michael the Archangel Parish) on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 10:00 AM.
