Mary J. Laufer

 Of Mt. Lebanon, age 94, passed on Saturday, November 2, 2024.  Beloved wife of 73 years to Charles T. Laufer, who passed away in February, 2024.  Loving mother of Clifford (Beth Hook) Laufer, Donald (Imako) Laufer, Charles (Sharon) Laufer, and Russell (Carol) Laufer; devoted grandmother to Claire Laufer (fiancé Edward Coen).  Also survived by her special cousin Betty Smith of Ohio who was like a sister, born 3 weeks apart.

          Mary was born in Cleveland, Ohio July, 1930.  She met Chuck, the love of her life, at a Rainbow Girls dance.  She was engaged at 18 and married Chuck a year later in 1950.  They were inseparable for the rest of their lives.  Aside from being busy raising 4 sons, Mary volunteered at several nursing homes and churches.  Then she began a career with J.C. Penney in their collections department.  Once retired, Mary and Chuck enjoyed traveling, being with their granddaughter, and leading an active life at Concordia of the South Hills since 2011. 

          A memorial service will be held at Bower Hill Community Church, 70 Moffett Street, Pittsburgh, PA  15243, on Saturday November 23 at 4:00 PM.
