Mary Lou McCurrie

Age 91 of Upper St Clair, PA passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 12, 2023.  Beloved wife of the late Gilbert McCurrie, mother of Daniel (Donna) of Pittsburgh, PA, grandchildren Connor (Marissa), Riley (Sam), Mel, Ray and Edy; Bradley (Donna) of Los Gatos, CA, grandchildren Matthew and Megan; and Brian (Barbara) of Pittsburgh, PA, grandchildren James, Michael (Julia), David, Robert and Katie.  Born in Pittsburgh, PA in August 1931 to the late John and Florence Howley.  Mary Lou graduated from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh and began her career as an elementary school teacher in the Pittsburgh Catholic School system.  She met Gilbert and married in 1957 and enjoyed a loving 65 years of marriage.  Later in life she was cared for at Friendship Village and more specifically in the Special Care Unit where she received endless compassion and love.  She is preceded in death by her brother Jack and his wife Delores and her grandson Gregory McCurrie.  She led a faith-filled life, as demonstrated by her endless dedication to her family. Her (13) grandchildren, (8) great grandchildren and (9) nieces and nephews were always the source of her greatest delight.  She was also blessed to be surrounded by a group of friends that she cherished as much as she did her family. 

                Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, August 15 from 3pm to 6pm at Laughlin Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 222 Washington Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15216.  Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Wednesday, August 16 at Resurrection Parish, St. Thomas More Church, 126 Fort Couch Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15241.  Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children or the Alzheimer’s Association.
