Mary Lou “Lou” Palencsar, 69 of Pittsburgh passed away after an unexpected illness on Wednesday May 4, 2022 surrounded by family and friends. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Mary (Hischak) Kotelnicki of Nanty Glo, PA and one of four children; the late Patricia Vizi, the late Gloria Nairn, and the late David Kotelnicki. Lou was the most loving mother to two daughters, Laura Palencsar (John Standard) of Pittsburgh and Katie Palencsar (Darren Bernstein) of New York City and a devoted Baba to her grandchildren, Margot and Jacks. She is also survived by her niece, Kathy (James) McGowan of Pittsburgh, and many nieces, great nieces and nephews.
Born November 25, 1952 in Johnstown, PA, Lou loved spending time with family, friends and neighbors in the small close-knit towns she grew up in (Nanty-Glo, PA) and raised her children in (Tipton, PA). She loved the beach, collecting seashells, peace signs, flowers, pictures, and sitting outside every single moment that the Pennsylvania weather allowed.
She was a tough cookie, raised her kids mostly as a single mom, and overcame many obstacles including battling Rheumatoid Arthritis for 30 years, which despite its challenges never stopped her from living life to the fullest.
Lou was known for her kind, caring, generous personality and detailed stories. She did everything and anything she could for her daughters and grandchildren and was a fierce and loyal friend.
Family and Friends will be welcomed for a celebration of life service at Laughlin Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 222 Washington Road Mt. Lebanon on Saturday, May 7th at 11:00 am.
