Age 103, of Mt. Lebanon, died peacefully on May 7, 2023. Devoted wife of the late Andrew G. McDowell. Maude enjoyed a good book or a challenging game of bridge, but what she enjoyed more was her family. She is survived by her children, Bonnie (Barry) McCabe, Betsy (Bill) Roegge and Donald (Carol) McDowell; her grandchildren, Leigh (Paul) LaLonde, Sean McCabe, William Roegge, Sarah (Tim) Burroughs, Lindy Roegge (and her fiance', Jordan Ray) and Melissa (Brad) Ballantine; and her great-grandchildren, Aaron, Ethan, Natalie, Charlie, Sydnie, Carson and Ryan. Maude was proceeded in death by her parents, Alexander and Anna Mayberry, her brother, Alex Mayberry and her sister, Florence Buszko. Maude was born in Edgeworth in 1920 and grew up in Brookline. She graduated from South Hills High School. After graduating from secretarial school, she worked for several companies in Pittsburgh and finally worked as an executive secretary for United Engineering and Foundry Company until her marriage. Maude was a longtime member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church where she was active in many ministries over the years. Always willing to serve, Maude formed and lead the wedding committee at Old St. Luke's Church for 19 years, and coordinated over three hundred weddings. She was a volunteer at St. Clair Hospital, the bookstore at Trinity Cathedral, Asbury Heights Auxiliary and Board of Directors. Maude always had the ability to engage with new people and to make new friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial service at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, on Friday, May 12, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. The family will receive guests at the church following the service.
