Meredith Ann Gray passed away on December 13, 2025 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She never married and had no children. Meredith has surviving twin brothers, Richardson Gray (Wilma) of Asheville, NC and David Gray of Arlington, VA.
Meredith was born on February 25, 1947 at Sewickley Hospital near Pittsburgh. After graduating from Mt. Lebanon High School in 1965, she received a B.A. degree from Malone University in Canton, OH, in 1969. Following college she joined the Peace Corps and served in Malaysia working at the Public Health Ministry in the capital city of Kuala Lumpur, 1970-73. In 1974-75, she again served in the Peace Corps in Thailand, teaching English to Thai high school boys.
Following Peace Corp service, Meredith taught English to Army cadets in Iran in 1979. Returning to Pittsburgh, she taught English to Vietnamese refugees. She then went to the University of Hawaii to get her M.A. degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (1981). Returning to Pittsburgh, Meredith taught grammar and business writing techniques at Bidwell Training Center on the North Side for 13 years. She then worked for Pittsburgh City government for 13 years, retiring in 2020.
Meredith was a member of the Beechview United Presbyterian Church. Memorial contributions may be sent to Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital Free Care Fund.
