Michael Jan Palermo

Of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 5, 2021. Born October 20, 1970, in Cleveland, Ohio, “Mike” Michael Jan Palermo is survived by his long-term partner Margaret “Meghan” Singer. Mike is also survived by his son Jacob Michael Palermo (of Pittsburgh) and sister Patty Palermo and niece Alicia Palermo (of Tampa Bay Florida). Mike is also survived by Meghan’s large extended family.

Known affectionately by his many friends as the “Chocolate Moose,” Mike was calm, patient, and an attentive listener. Moving from Cleveland to Pittsburgh, Mike was a dedicated Steelers fan. He also enjoyed watching the Penguins, especially during the Stanley Cup games. Mike was a regular fixture in his neighborhood sitting with Meg and friends and neighbors. Though Mike was naturally quiet, he was a great conversationalist one on one.

Mike enjoyed camping and fishing trips to Northeastern Pennsylvania with his best friend Glenn Vertullo. 

Mike was a great companion to Meg and will be sorely missed by Meg, and their cats Penelope and Tabby.

A service to honor Michael’s life will be held on Monday, July 12, 2021. The service will be held at 11:00 am at Laughlin Memorial Chapel, 222 Washington Road, Pittsburgh, PA, 15216, interment private.
