Norma A. Cappello

age 95, formerly of Mount Lebanon, passed peacefully on Monday morning, July 12, 2021. Beloved wife for 52 years of the late Louis A. Cappello; devoted mother of Gregory (Carol), Jeffrey (Karen), Daniel, David (Cathi), Mark and the late Jacqueline Cappello; loving grandmother of Anthony (Courtney), Dillion, Amanda Ratkovic, Paige Hoover, Robert Hoover and the late Christopher Cappello; cherished great-grandmother to Lia, Evie, Alex, Anna, Vincent, Joseph, and Owen; sister of late Doris Pistole (Richard) and Charles F. Appel Jr. (Loretta). A daughter of the late Charles F.  and Lillian (Gibbs) Appel, Norma  was born in Pittsburgh and raised in Mt. Lebanon. She graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School in 1944 and soon after began to work for U.S. Steel. She met her husband Louis while employed there and they married in 1953. They relocated many times across the country as her husband advanced his career until they finally decided to retire back to Pittsburgh in 1985. Norma was heavily involved with St Paul's Episcopal Church over the years, she first attended there in 1937. She and her husband donated many years of service to Old St. Luke's Church in Scott Township. Norma was the wedding coordinator for over 20 years there and just retired from that position last year. She loved her family especially her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. Norma always looked forward to holidays and family events, especially in Chicago. She was a very giving person putting others before herself, always had a word of encouragement for anyone who needed it. Friends will be welcomed at Laughlin Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 222 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon on Wednesday from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Thursday morning at 10:30. Interment in Mount Lebanon Cemetery. If desired, memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1066 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon, PA 15228
