Norman Petrelli Obituary

Age 91, peacefully at home in Mount Lebanon, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, September 8, 2024, Beloved husband for 64 years of Shirley A. (Baty) Petrelli; devoted father of Michael A. (Cheryl) of Perrysville, Norman E. (Julie) of Washington, PA, Lisa M. (Daniel) Adamik of Level Green, PA and Anthony J. of Long Beach, CA; proud grandfather of Nicholas, Hailey, Lacey, Dominic and Gabriella; loving brother of the late John J. Petrelli, Jean Schmidt, Minnie Sirohman and Ida Carmen; also survived by many nieces and nephews. After graduating Mt. Lebanon High School, Norm went on to earn a 2 year degree in electronics at Penn Tech. Later, his brother John convinced him to continue with the family trade as a stonemason for the family business, A. Petrelli & Sons. As a master stonemason, his talents and skills can be found throughout the South Hills. Following in his brother’s footsteps, he enlisted in the Marine Corps during the Korean War and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. After his discharge in 1956, he returned to his stonemason craft and started his family. In 1964, at the age of 31, he began his distinguished career as a Volunteer Fireman in the Mt. Lebanon Fire Department, retiring in 2007 after 43 years of service. Norm loved sports and was quite the athlete, a star running back for Mt Lebanon High School.  Later he loved coaching all 4 of his children in multiple sports. His favorite past times were playing softball, bowling, camping and spending time with all those he loved. Friends will be welcomed at Laughlin Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 222 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon on Saturday from 4:00 until 7:00pm and Sunday afternoon from 1:00 until 4:00, with a Blessing Service on Monday morning at 11 o’clock. Interment with Military Honors at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. If desired, donations may be made to the Mount Lebanon Volunteer Fire Department, 555 Washington Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15228.
