Otto Leone Jr. Obituary

Otto J. Leone, Jr. passed away, on Friday, May 22, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, inspiration, and unwavering faith.

Born and raised in West Newton, Pennsylvania, he graduated as valedictorian from West Newton High School, where he shined in three sports and distinguished himself as a finalist in the state chess tournament, showcasing his intellect and competitive spirit.

Otto's academic journey continued at Carnegie Tech, where he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering while excelling on the football field throughout his four years. However, the most profound achievement in his life was meeting the love of his life, Patty, from Ashtabula, OH. Their partnership was a testament to love and mutual support that flourished over 63 years.

After graduation, Otto began his professional career at Mesta Machine in Homestead, Pennsylvania, later obtaining a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. He became an executive at USS and served as Vice President of USS Engineers and Consultants in Pittsburgh. Yet, his greatest joy stemmed not from his professional accolades, but from his family.

Otto was immensely proud of his children: Gina, who earned a PhD in Special Education and dedicated her life to changing the lives of others, and Otto Jr., who served honorably in the Army. Otto Jr. graduated from the United States Military Academy, played football, and served as a Combat Engineer, Airborne and Ranger Qualified, later achieving an MBA from Notre Dame. Their accomplishments were a reflection of Otto's nurturing guidance and steadfast support.

As “Pop,” Otto cherished every moment spent with his four grandsons, celebrating their achievements in school, athletics, and service with unyielding enthusiasm. He was a passionate sports enthusiast, always present in person or spirit at their games and life events, cheering them on with immense joy, pride, and encouragement.

Otto's dedication and adventurous spirit took him around the globe, where he lived and worked in over 50 countries, embracing diverse cultures and experiences. Guided by his profound faith, he viewed every encounter as a blessing, finding positivity even in life's challenges. His worldly experiences and love for history and reading enriched his life and the lives of those around him.

A loyal friend and a man of great kindness, Otto exemplified strength and vulnerability, shedding tears of joy and offering heartfelt hugs. He believed in enduring through all things, radiating positivity and grace in every situation. His indomitable spirit will be deeply missed, but his legacy of kindness and love will forever inspire those who knew him.

Otto Leone leaves behind a wide circle of family and friends who are stronger in faith and enriched by his presence. Though he may be gone, his spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who loved him.
