Patricia Ann Seibel, age 81, passed away on January 26, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of passion, dedication, and love. Born on December 7, 1942, “Trish” was the epitome of strength, kindness, and generosity throughout her remarkable life.
Patricia’s educational journey was marked by impressive achievements. It began at St. Anne School in Castle Shannon, then high school at St. Francis Academy. She earned her B.S. degree in education from Duquesne University, followed by an M.Ed. in Special Education from the University of Pittsburgh and an Ed.D in Special Education and Administration from Penn State University. Her commitment to education led her through various roles, starting as an elementary school teacher, transitioning to a special needs instructor for physically and mentally challenged, and ultimately serving as the esteemed principal at Pioneer Education Center in Pittsburgh, PA for many years. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma education sorority and was active locally and statewide in the Pennsylvania State Education Association (PSEA) and the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC).
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Patricia was a beacon of warmth and joy to her family and friends. Her love of travel, theatre, football, and food reflected her vibrant spirit. Patricia’s dedication to the Pittsburgh Steelers was unparalleled. She was a season ticket holder for years and was honored to attend three Super Bowls. She was a proud and devoted fan, known for her love of tailgating and her extensive collection of Steelers gear for any occasion. After her retirement, she volunteered at the Humane Society and as a docent at the Heinz History Center.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Bettye Seibel, and her brother Tim Seibel. She is survived by her brother Mark (Bonnie) Seibel; sister Judi Seibel (Greg); sister-in-law Jill Seibel; nephews Jaime (Kristen), Matthew (Megan) and Seth (Sarah); nieces Emily (Matt) and Elizabeth; grand-nieces Gigi and Delilah; grand-nephews Jakob, Will, Logan, J.D., Brennan, and Westley; and special friends Marsha and Rosalie. All mourn her passing but hold onto the cherished memories of a woman who played a pivotal role in their lives.
Affectionately known as the “President of the Seibel Family,” Patricia’s organizational prowess extended beyond her professional life. Whether orchestrating family birthdays, anniversaries, vacations, sister lunches, or “let’s get together to celebrate just for the hell of it,” she was the glue that held the family together. When she spoke in her “principal voice,” we all stopped what we were doing and listened, as we knew that she meant business.
Patricia showered her nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews with love, earning a special place in their hearts. Patricia Ann Seibel will be remembered as a remarkable educator, a passionate football enthusiast, an ardent foodie, and, above all, a beloved family matriarch. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, from 4-8pm at Laughlin Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 1008 Castle Shannon Blvd. Pittsburgh, PA 15234. Interment will be private.
