Paul J. Zvonar

Paul J. Zvonar, of Mount Lebanon and originally from Chicago, IL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 9, 2024, just six days before his 94th birthday. Paul was the beloved husband of the late Benita Marie (Harnish) Zvonar, with whom he shared 68 wonderful years of marriage.

Paul and Benita were high school sweethearts at Belvedere High School in Illinois. They built a beautiful life and family together in Mount Lebanon, PA, where they were active members of St. Bernard Parish. Both served as Eucharistic ministers, deeply involved in their faith community.

Paul was a devoted father to Lynn (Dan) Oelrich, the late Lori (Dave) Liba, Mark (Cindy), Susie Seeman, Judy Myers, Greg (Judy), and the late Jeffrey Zvonar. He was a loving grandfather to eight grandchildren and a cherished great-grandfather to 16 great-grandchildren.

Paul proudly served his country as an officer in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict, where he received several commendations for his service, including the Korean Service Medal, the U.N. Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. After his service, he pursued higher education and earned his electrical engineering degree from Purdue University, where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. After completing his degree at Purdue, Paul studied and obtained his Professional Engineer License. 

Paul worked for and retired from Allen Bradley. After his retirement, he started his own company, Paul Zvonar Associates, where he continued to contribute his expertise in electrical engineering.

Paul had a zest for life and a spirit of adventure. He enjoyed adventure camping, skiing, and fishing. He and Benita loved their annual trips to Vail and the Outer Banks, cherishing the time spent together and with their family during these travels.

Paul will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His legacy of love, service, and dedication will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Friends and family are welcome to attend a public viewing on Saturday, June 15th, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Laughlin’s Funeral Home, Mt. Lebanon, PA. A blessing service will follow immediately after the viewing.
