Peter A. Castric

Age 87, of Mount Lebanon, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026. Son of the late Peter (Pierre Jean) and Anna Castric; Beloved husband of Kathleen (Forsgren) Castric; loving father of David (Christine) Castric.

Peter was born and raised in Eastern Oregon. He attended Hermiston High School, graduating in 1957.  He went on to study microbiology at Oregon State University, then went on to earn his PhD in microbiology from Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana.  Between degrees, Peter served in the United States Army, being stationed at Fort Detrick in Maryland. At Montana State he met his future wife, Kathleen. 

Peter settled on an Academic career, attaining a professorship at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA, and teaching and performing research there for decades.  He was also involved in research program for the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research.  Peter retired in 2014 and was named a Professor Emeritus by Duquesne a few years later. 

Services will be private to the family.
