Rev. James G. Young

Peacefully passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 after a courageous battle with bladder cancer. Jim was born on May 3, 1942 in Beaver Falls, PA, a son of the late Louis H. and Mary Margaret (Donnelly) Young and brother of Louis. Fr. Young was ordained a Roman Catholic Priest on May 10, 1969.

Father Young served the Church in parish work, health care ministry and central administration. He may best be remembered for his years as Pastor of St. Michael Parish in Elizabeth, PA where he was tasked with building a new church.

Whether golfing, riding his motorcycle, or taking a long drive in a favorite car, Fr. Young was blessed to be surrounded by good friends. His last years were spent living at the Diocese of Pittsburgh’s retirement community for priests, St. John Vianney Manor, where he relished the strong fraternal support received from his brother priests.

Friends will be welcomed at Saints Simon and Jude Church (St. Rephael the Archangel Parish), 1607 Greentree Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15220 on Monday morning, November 18th  from 10 until a Mass of Christian Burial is con-celebrated at 11 o’clock. Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beaver Falls, PA will be Private.
