Obituary
Age 74, at Country Manor Personal Care in Kittanning, of Pittsburgh on Wednesday, February 22, 2023. Rich was born in Homestead a son of the late John and Norma (Rollison) Somales and grew up in Monongahela. Devoted Father of Stephanie Somales Broz (Brian) and Richard Purbaugh (Desiree). Loving Grandfather of Brian Broz (Jade), Brandon Broz (Shannon), Brooklyn Purbaugh, and Nora Purbaugh. Proud Great Grandfather of Carter, Dylan, and Bennett Broz. Brother of Michael Somales and Christine Somales. Also survived by nieces and nephews and his former wife Kathleen Block. Rich was proceeded in death by his brothers William and Timothy Somales. Also a nephew Justin Haluschak. Rich was a proud United States Army Veteran having served 2 tours in Vietnam. He was a devoted “brother” to all who served in the Armed Forces. Rich will also be remembered for his amazing vocals and percussion talent. His musical career spanned decades of entertaining in the Pittsburgh and New York City. He was a Catholic by Faith and will be remembered for his daily Bible Verse messages to those he cared and prayed for. Service and interment in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies will be private.
