Age 89, of Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, June 24, 2026.
Son of the late Raymond and Clara (née Weisner) Blassey. Devoted father of Valerie Blassey (Will Dyson) and Matthew Blassey (Jennifer Blassey, née Houlihan). Proud "grandpa" of Gavin, Garrett and Hannah Blassey. Also survived by his ex-wife and friend, Kathleen Blassey (née Tyman). Brother of the late Harold Blassey, Richard Blassey and Verna Mattimore (née Blassey).
Bob was a proud Army veteran. He attended Niagara University on a running scholarship and graduated with a degree in business, later serving as business manager of the Tuberculosis League of New York. He moved to Pittsburgh, where he married Kathleen and earned a master's degree in criminal justice from the University of Pittsburgh. He went on to serve as an intake officer at Juvenile Court of Pittsburgh for the remainder of his career.
Bob loved to run, taking part in many local races — including the annual Pittsburgh Great Race — well into his late forties. He was an avid hobbyist who loved collecting and running model locomotives, and building airplane, ship, and tank models.
