The family of Samuel Greenwood is deeply saddened to announce his passing on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. Born on January 15, 1963, Sam lived a full life, a happy life, and a life filled with love, family, and friendship.

Beloved husband for 30 years of Linda (Smergalski) Greenwood, who he adored; proud, committed father of Beau and Benjamin Greenwood; brother of Robert Greenwood and the late Donna Greenwood; son of the late Harold and Dorothy (Shaw) Greenwood.

Sam attended Laurel High School, class of 1981, where he was a phenomenal athlete. He was Laurel's all-time leading scorer in basketball and won the 1980 Class A WPIAL football championship with his team. He continued his football career at Westminster College where he twice earned NAIA Division II All-American honors for his contributions to the team. Sam was later inducted into both Westminster College and Lawrence County's respective Hall of Fames.

Professionally, Sam was a true pioneer of the insurance industry, working with Henderson Brothers Insurance Providers for over 20 years.

Friends will be welcomed at Laughlin Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 222 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon on Thursday from 3:00 until 7:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Anne Church (St. Paul of the Cross Parish) 400 Hoodridge Drive, Castle Shannon on Friday morning @ 10 o'clock. (Everyone Please Meet at Church). Interment will be Private.

If desired, memorials may be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) or the VA Center for Development and Civic Engagement.
