Sandy Sue Breit

Sandy Sue Breit, of Castle Shannon, passed away peacefully, at the age of 65, on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.

Loving mother of Shawn and Erik Breit; wife of Donald Breit; sister of John Konnovitch, Robert Konnovitch, and Lee Ann Hawthorne. Sandy is preceded in death by her parents Harry and Virginia Konnovitch.

Sandy moved to Castle Shannon from her hometown of Weirton, West Virginia in 1990.  She gave everything to her boys Shawn and Erik.  Her home on Willow Ave was filled with constant life from parties or gatherings of friends of Erik or Shawn as they grew up.  Sandy’s passion for baking could be smelled year round but multiplied by dozens during the holiday season.  She was proudly a respiratory therapist for 30 years providing care and comfort to the most vulnerable. 

As per Sandy’s wishes, there will be no services. A celebration of life will be held at our home in Castle Shannon the morning of September 27th.  Details to be shared. 

This last year her best friend was a 14 year old pit bull named Scrappy rescued from Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh.  Our family would like to continue her legacy of caring for the most vulnerable.
