Shirley A. Baker

On Saturday, July 22, 2023, Shirley A. Baker, of Mt. Lebanon, passed away peacefully at Providence Point at the age of 89. Shirley is proceeded in death by her devoted husband of 65 years, John E. Baker and her infant daughter Virginia. She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Paul of Mt Lebanon, Ellen Hand (Samuel) of Phoenix, Arizona and William Baker (Karen) of Pine; grandchildren Robert, Nora, Clarissa, Owen, Brady and Molly; great-granddaughter Dorothy. Shirley was born on September 14, 1933 and grew up in Sheridan, PA. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in Education and married her college sweetheart John in 1955.They raised their three children in Mt. Lebanon where she loved tending her flower gardens. She was very active in Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women where she made friendships that have lasted decades, sharing golf, travel and favorite recipes. She adored her grandchildren and delighted in making holidays memorable. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Friday, August 11, 2023 at Providence Point Chapel, 500 Providence Point Boulevard, Scott Township, PA 15243 at 1:00 pm. Rev. Thomas Strandburg will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend. Burial at Washington Cemetery will be private. The family would like to thank the staff of Providence Point for their care.
