Steven Douglas Stockton

Age 75, of Upper St Clair, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, October 19, 2025. 

Steve was born February 13, 1950, in Redlands, CA, the son of the late James & Doris [Sturtevant] Stockton.

Steve graduated from Concord High School in 1968, then went on to Harvey Mudd College, earning a dual degree in Chemistry and Business. He furthered his education receiving his Master’s in Industrial Hygiene at the University of Pittsburgh. 

While new to Pittsburgh, he became a member of Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church. Here, he met his late wife, Saralyn Ninette [Nicklas] Stockton while singing in the choir. Their love blossomed and Steve and Saralyn married at Mt. Lebanon United Methodist on August 18, 1979. 

Steve was the proud father of four incredible boys who will forever cherish his memory: Steven, Jr. (Helen), Evan, Sean (Stephanie) and Ryan (Danielle) Stockton; proud grandpa of Jaelyn, Elise and Jameson, with a 4th on the way (Parker); brother of Don Stockton the late Joan (Stockton) Roth and Maryanne Stockton; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Steve had unwavering dedication and passion as a scout master with the Boy Scouts of America. He will be remembered as a father figure to many. Among his notable accomplishments was guiding a record number of young men to their Eagle Scout ceremonies. He was a selfless man who volunteered within his community and church - always a model of integrity and kindness in everyday life. His legacy is one of quiet strength and unwavering principle.

Family and friends will be welcomed on Thursday, October 23rd, from 4:00 until 7:00 pm at Laughlin Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 222 Washington Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15216. A Memorial Service will be celebrated at Laughlin’s on Friday morning at 11 o’clock.
