Thomas R. Trainor

On Monday, September 7, 2020, Tom Trainor of Scott Township, passed peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous ten month battle with glioblastoma. Beloved son of the late Rosella and Regis Trainor; devoted husband of 56 years to Virginia (Colella) Trainor; loving father to Mark (Lisa) Trainor, Kristin (Earl) Hertzog, and Craig Trainor; kind brother to Daniel (Sandra) Trainor, Barbara Hagerty, and the late David Trainor; cherished grandfather/Baba to Noah, Dylan and Sydney Trainor, John and Evelyn Hertzog and Lauren Trainor; also survived by loving sister-in laws Marilyn (Roger) Nemrava, Barbara (Robert) Williams, and Donna (late Keithley) Mulvihill; and many nieces and nephews. Tom was a graduate of Duquesne University, M.S. Ed., and taught for over thirty-five years in the Bethel Park School District and at St. Anne’s in Mt. Lebanon.  He was a favorite teacher and coach (affectionately nicknamed Pie) to his many Bethel Park basketball and tennis athletes over the years.  A proud USMC veteran and grandfather, Tom committed everyday in small, kind ways to making everyone’s life just a little bit easier.  Friends and family will always remember Tom’s infectious smile, friendly chats, famous pancakes, happy memories and his sense of humor.  Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, September 11, 2020 at St. Michael the Archangel Parish, Our Lady of Grace Worship Site, 310 Kane Blvd. Pittsburgh, PA 15243 at 10:00 am with viewing preceding mass at 9:00 am in the church vestibule.
