Age 88, of Mt. Lebanon, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday November 5, 2023. Beloved husband of the late Theresa (Hohos) Welsh; son of the late Thomas F. and Irene (McGrogan) Welsh; father of Dennis (Donna), Kathleen (Stephen) Butler, Thomas F. III (Karen) and Dan (Liz) Welsh; also survived by eight grandchildren. Born December 20, 1934 in Carnegie, he attended St. Luke's High School where he was known as a good student and athlete and active in St. Luke's Church as an altar server. The McGrogan family was pivotal in his upbringing and he spoke fondly of his time spent with his aunts, uncles and cousins. Thomas attended St. Vincent College in Latrobe and went on to serve his country during the Cold War as a military police officer stationed in Germany with the 3rd Armor Division between 1955-1957. Afterwards Tom met Theresa (Terry) Hohos from Natrona Heights, married and then they had their four children. Tom worked for McGraw-Edison in Canonsburg in the high voltage lab performing safety and quality checks on newly built transformers for a number of industries. Tom was an active member of St. Anne Parish in Castle Shannon and was regularly involved in church and community events. Tom was deeply committed to self discipline, faith and family and will be greatly missed. Friends will be received at Laughlin Cremation & Funeral Tributes 222 Washington Road Mt. Lebanon on Thursday from 4-7 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered in St. Paul of the Cross Parish - St. Anne Church on Friday at 10:00 AM.
