A retired high school mathematics teacher, died on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. Ward, the only son of Arthur and Bernadette, was born in Wilkinsburg then raised in Dormont and Mount Lebanon. Dr. Barnes started his teaching career in Penn Hills and then taught at Shady Side Academy, before moving on to Bel Air and Baltimore, Maryland. He was also a systems engineer for I.B.M. Ward earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Dickerson College, then his Master’s and Doctorate at the University of Pittsburgh. Friends will be welcomed at Laughlin Cremation & Funeral Tributes at 222 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon on Wednesday morning, May 28th from 10 o’clock until the Funeral Service at 10:30. Interment in Jefferson Memorial Park will be Private. If desired, memorials may be made to Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church, 3319 West Liberty Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15216.
