Age 99, of Mt. Lebanon, died peacefully in Cleveland, Ohio, on Sunday, July 26, 2020. Son of the late William A. Sr. and Mary Veronica (nee Sweeney) Duffy; brother of the late Jean Hart (the late James). Beloved husband for 73 years of Mary Margaret (nee Crowley) Duffy; devoted father of Mary Anne Duffy, William H. Duffy (Monica), Thomas A. Duffy (Carol), Susan Zupancic (Richard), Timothy M. Duffy (Janice), and Dr. John F. Duffy (Michelle). He is also survived by his 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews including his sister’s children James and William Hart. Best friend and brother-in-law for nearly 60 years to Marvin Francis (the late Charlotte). Bill joined the ROTC and went to Duquesne University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. Following graduation, he went to US Army Officer Command School in Fort Sill, OK; upon completion he served as a First Lieutenant in World War II. Following the war, Bill came home and married, Mary Margaret Crowley, the love of his life for over 73 years, raised a beautiful family, and operated his own advertising agency. Bill was an active member of Our Lady of Grace Church and volunteered in many community activities and at St. Clair Hospital up until October 2019. The family will receive friends at Laughlin Cremation and Funeral Tributes, 222 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Grace Church (St. Michael the Archangel Parish), 310 Kane Blvd., Scott Twp. on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. (the mass will be live-streamed at laughlinfuneralhome.com for those who cannot attend). Interment with Military Honors will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Salvation Army of Western Pennsylvania, 700 N.
