Age 86, of Dormont, on Saturday April 8, 2023. Beloved husband for 35 years of Diane (Edwards) Kavchak; loving father of Laura (William) Dickhaut, Michael (Beth Hofius) Kavchak, Lisa (Douglas) Petkie and the late William R. (surviving Elisa) Kavchak; proud grandfather of Billy, Zachary, Maia, Jennifer, Matthew, Benjamin, Joshua and Lila; brother of Marilyn (Robert) Hirosky and the late Dolores Kepich and Robert Kavchak; also survived by his first wife Lila McCallister and several nieces and nephews. Bill especially enjoyed gardening, raising prize winning dahlias as a member of the Greater Pittsburgh Dahlia Society. Another favorite hobby was model trains. He built elaborate train displays with his collection of Dept. 56 porcelain houses, one of which was featured in a national magazine. He also enjoyed fishing and doing remodeling projects around the house. Bill spent many years employed as a chauffeur for executives at Rosenbloom Finance Company, PPG Industries, Kirkpatrick & Lockhart, Concast Metal Products and the University of Pittsburgh. Bill was also a veteran, serving two years in the US Army at Ft. Knox, Kentucky. Friends will be received at Laughlin Cremation & Funeral Tributes 222 Washington Road Mt. Lebanon on Thursday 2-4 & 6-8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered in St. Michael the Archangel Parish – St. Bernard Church, on Friday at 10:00 AM.
