William A. Ruth

William A. Ruth was a first-class husband, son, father, brother, uncle, Pap and friend. He left this world on Tuesday June 11, 2024, at the age of 79 after a long illness. He was born to Howard A. and Vivian (Johnston) Ruth on March 20, 1945. Bill taught at Beechwood Elementary School for 36 years. He had a true passion for teaching math and looked forward to going to work every day. One of Bill's greatest pleasures was taking the fifth grade classes on their annual overnight camping trip. Bill was an avid motorcyclist and snowmobiler. He was very involved in the Finleyville snow riders and GWRRA. Bill is survived by his wife, Toni (Giovengo) Ruth and his daughters Leigh C. Giovengo and Gilian R. Ward. He was proud Pap to his grandchildren, Cam, Landon, Cole, Kendall and Ty. He is also survived by his very special son-in-law Daniel J. Ward; sister-in-law Patti (late Burt) Ruth; niece Aimee (Nate) Massafra; and nephew Ross (Krista) Ruth. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Vivian Ruth and his brother Burt Ruth. Family and friends will be received at Laughlin Cremation & Funeral Tributes 222 Washington Road Mt. Lebanon on Thursday from 1-7 PM. Services will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 12 Noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Bill's name to Brother's Brother Foundation 1200 Galveston Ave. Pittsburgh, PA 15233 or to Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank 1 N. Linden St. Duquesne, PA 15110.
