William R. “Bill” Sheppard, of Mt. Lebanon, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at the age of 87.
Son of the late Dorr M. and Lyda Lee Sheppard; husband of the late Lois A. Sheppard; beloved father of Tim (Harlyn P. O’Herin) and Jack (Elaine) Sheppard; grandfather of Ben, Sam, and Sarah Sheppard; brother of Jim (Karen) and the late Don (Elise) Sheppard; dear friend of Fran Roberti. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Dad/Bill was a proud family man who instilled in those around him the importance of being kind, respectful and responsible. He was a graduate of Dormont High School and Bethany College. He served in the US Army teaching math and other subjects to enlisted soldiers. He valued his very successful career as a computer systems analyst at J&L Steel/LTV Steel. When not working, he enjoyed time with his family and friends and always gave his sons a family vacation and a Kennywood trip every summer. He very much enjoyed bowling and was a proud member of the Methodist Men’s bowling league at Bowling City in Mt Lebanon. At his best, he had an average into the 170's that qualified him for bowling team captain. He also enjoyed poker games with the beloved Gannon family and his friends at Pendale Towers. Despite multiple health setbacks starting in his 50's, he continually battled through them until he passed peacefully at home. He touched so many people and will be missed by many.
Friends received on Monday, April 13, from 4pm until the time of remembrances at 7pm, at Laughlin Cremation & Funeral Tributes, 222 Washington Rd. Pittsburgh, PA 15216. Interment will be private to the family.
