Carol Ann Gaetjens

December 13, 1943 ~ April 23, 2015 (age 71) 71 Years Old


Age 71, of Carnegie on Thursday, April 23, 2015. Beloved wife for 48 years of Arthur G. “Gerry”; loving mother of  Jennifer (William)  Brandenstein and Donald Garett  (Carol) Fairbank; daughter of the late Donald and Eva (Finch) Inforati-Hall; cherished grandmother of Robert, Windsor, Bryce, Holden and Bellamy; aunt of David, Alex and Kirsten. Carol graduated from Bangor H.S. class of 62 and the University of Maine, Orono class of 66 where she was a founding member of Alpha Phi Sorority. She enjoyed riding in the Penobscot  Pony Club and taught third grade  at the Capart School. While living in Taiwan she taught ESL at a school for the blind. After returning from a year tour of duty in Taiwan the family was assigned to Plattsburgh AFB, NY and were active in the community on and off Base. Living at 192 US Oval from 1973 to 1977 she planned and participated in many events at the Officers Club and was an officer in the O.W.C.  She belonged to the Trinity Episcopal Church and was devoted to church activities. The family moved to Peru, NY  where they lived from 1977 to 1987. While there she was a Girl Scout Leader. After which she and her husband Gerry lived in Peabody, MA until 2013.  As a lifetime horse women she participated in recreational riding and a volunteer at the Windrush (MA) Farm’s Equitation Therapy. She was a early pioneer in dog therapy visitation at  a nursing home in  Peabody, MA.  Carol worked  with people having  special needs helping them ride horses (Equine-Assisted Therapy at Windrush farm). Friends will be welcomed at LAUGHLIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL 222 Washington Road, Mount Lebanon MONDAY 2-4 & 6-8 pm. Service in the funeral home chapel Tuesday morning at 11:30. Interment National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society 320 Bilmar Drive Pgh. PA 15205  or Windrush Farm Therapeutic Equitation  Program (Horse Therapy for individuals with  special needs.)  479 Lacy Street North Andover MA 01845. She will be in are hearts forever.
