Age 92, of Mount Lebanon, on Wednesday, June 14, 2017. Beloved husband for 59 of his recently departed wife, Dolores T. (Nagy) VandeBunt; loving father of Paul VandeBunt and his wife Jan; also survived by Charlotte (Paul) Mitrick among other extended family members. Born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, a son of the late Peter and Edith (Witchel) VandeBunt. Upon finishing high school, Dick went to Toledo, Ohio where he enlisted in the U.S. Army in May 1943. He was a proud World War II Veteran and his service included fighting at the Battle of the Bulge. Dick’s accommodations included American Theater Ribbon, EAME Ribbon with 4 Bronze Stars and the WWII Victory Medal. Richard moved to Pittsburgh after graduating from Purdue University, going to work for Westinghouse Electric in East Pittsburgh. Eventually he began a 30+ year career at Duquesne Light where he was proudest working in Area Development. Dick was member of the St. Winifred Church Bowling League as well as an avid Mt. Lebanon and Pittsburgh sports fan. His son Paul would like to thank Brookdale Senior Living of Mt. Lebanon, ManorCare (Greentree), and Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh for the care they provided to Dick. Friends will be welcomed at LAUGHLIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 222 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon on Friday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM. A Blessing Service will be held at Laughlin’s, Saturday morning at 9:30. Interment in Saint Anne Cemetery.
