Robert R. Furry

79, of Upper St. Clair PA passed away peacefully on Sept. 27, 2015 as a result of complications related to congestive heart failure. Robert is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Ann, in 2009, and is survived by his sister Dana Furry of Springfield IL, his sons Mark Furry of Pittsburgh PA and Lt.Cdr. David Furry of McLean VA, grandchildren Emma, Anabelle and Larkin, and his daughter–in-law Kirsten. A native of Springfield IL, Rob was a graduate and lifelong passionate fan of the University of Illinois (“Chief forever!”). Following graduation, Rob proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant after completing a tour as a tank commander with the 1st Calvary Division in Korea from 1958-1960. Following his discharge from the Army, Rob worked as a computer systems analyst at various Pittsburgh corporate locations before settling in at Pittsburgh National Bank, from where he retired after 22 years in 1998. Rob was a long-time member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and faithful occupant of the back balcony, where he enjoyed reverently lifting his rich baritone singing voice in worship of the Lord.  Quick-witted, lover of words, teller of numerous jokes and puns, Rob dearly loved “his boys” and will be sorely missed by his friends and family. He is now reunited with his beloved and devoted wife of 49 years, forever in a state of blissful peace. Family Plans No Viewing. Service and Interment private.
