Stephen V. Dillon, M.D.

Age 58, unexpectedly at home in Mt. Lebanon, on Thursday morning, August 18, 2016. Dear husband of Lisabeth ‘Betsy’ Dillon; loving father of Daniel and Juliana Dillon; only son of the late Dr. Daniel J. and Joan (Beard) Dillon; son-in-law of Eleanor Bicanich; brother-in-law of Barbara and Patricia Bicanich; also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and true friends. Steve was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Georgetown University. He completed his surgical residency as Chief Resident at Pittsburgh’s Mercy Hospital and practiced in Alaska, the Virgin Islands and New Mexico. He then became a Board Certified Surgeon and worked as an emergency room physician at Grove City Medical Center. Steve was an avid golfer and lifetime member of Chartiers Country Club. His greatest days were spent coaching, volunteering and helping with Daniel and Juliana’s sporting events. Steve had a lifelong dislike of beaches, sand and bright sun, but when family and friends were in the Outer Banks of North Carolina or Stone Harbor, New Jersey, he was ready for a ‘Road Trip’.  Steve always found time for friends, his guitar, crosswords and tours around the neighborhood with Brody. Everyone knew a communication received from Steve was often wordy, but his thoughtfulness and caring spoke volumes to those who loved him. Friends will be welcomed at Laughlin Memorial Chapel, 222 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon, Sunday afternoon from 1:00-4:00, Monday 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anne Church, Tuesday morning at 9:30. If desired, the family requests memorials may be made to St. Anne Church, 400 Hoodridge Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15234.
