I had a friendship with Steve when we were Notre Dame students in the St. Mary's Rome Program in 1977-1978 and stayed at the Pensione Barrett together. I remember his guitar well in a fun years with visits to a café at the nearby Pantheon, St. Peter's about a mile away, Art History and Archaeology classes: Rome had many plazas like the Piazza Navona.
